Life is for living, and at Fleet Valley, we certainly live life to the fullest. There’s always something happening to keep our residents entertained and active. From live music and entertainers, to small animal petting visits, to day trips and everything in between, we aim to make each day different to the next. We also have a great garden area where we grow our own vegetables and we encourage residents to get involved as much as they wish.

At Fleet Valley Care Home we believe in creating a true home-from-home environment: our dedicated staff are delighted to cater for your every need.
Accommodation
At the main reception area of our Home you will be received by staff who pride themselves on the enthusiasm and genuine warmth with which they welcome visitors. A visitors’ book is left at reception for signing when anyone enters or leaves the home to comply with statutory requirements.
Our spacious lounge/dining areas are very bright and sunny and provide an excellent location for meeting friends. They are tastefully decorated and furnished.
At the heart of Fleet Valley there is a communal paved garden with raised flower beds which we encourage residents and their families to sit and enjoy. The paved access allows for excellent mobility of wheelchairs. The garden is enclosed within the Home which helps ensure all residents are safe whilst allowing them complete freedom to enjoy the tranquil setting.
The bedrooms offered at Fleet Valley are of excellent quality. All have en-suite facilities are spacious have an attractive outlook and are decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Furnishings are regularly renewed to maintain ‘as new’ standard. To reflect your individual tastes we encourage residents to bring any articles of furniture, framed pictures and photographs to truly personalise their space.

Cuisine
We pride ourselves on the high standard of appetising meals served, all prepared from fresh produce by our qualified catering staff.
Good, nutritious food and drink are very important in keeping and improving your health.
Our staff will soon get to know your food preferences and any dietary needs which are recorded in your personal care plan. Menus are displayed daily and offer an extensive choice for each meal with a selection of home baking served daily.
The Head Chef, Ethel, has many years of catering and baking experience and oversees our breakfast, two course lunch and high tea. Fleet Valley are also fortunate to have a kitchen garden were we grow our own vegetables and fruit – residents love being able to enjoy some truly home-grown produce.
Meals are served in our dining room, while beverages and snacks are served throughout the day in the lounge areas. Room service is also available.
Entertainment
Our Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning and directing a daily programme of recreational activities.
Being part of the community is a huge part of life at Fleet Valley and we are delighted to run an assortment of multigenerational music groups and school visits. We also host the Gatehouse of Fleet Whist Group.
We hold regular Concerts for Christmas, Easter, St Andrew’s Day and other memorable occasions, not forgetting our national bard, Robert Burns. Because staying fit is important, one of our residents runs a weekly exercise class which always encourages lots of participation and enjoyment.
Birthdays are a fabulous occasion to celebrate and residents receive a complimentary birthday cake and card to mark their special day. Private functions can also be arranged.
The Home also has its own mini bus available to take residents on outings which is fully equipped to accommodate those in wheelchairs.

Hairdressing
A qualified resident hairdresser visits the Home once a week. Prices for this service are displayed on the notice board. You are free to have a hairdresser of your choice to visit the home or you may prefer to attend a local hairdressing salon.
Library
A wide selection of reading material can be found in our well-stocked Mobile Library. Large print books are available and changed regularly.
Newspapers & Journals
A wide selection of newspapers and journals are delivered to the Home daily. Arrangements can also be made to have your own newspaper or journal delivered.
Incoming letters and parcels are delivered daily. Residents who are unable to post their own mail should discuss alternative arrangements with the manager.
Telephones
If you require a telephone in your own room, arrangements can be made for a separate line to be installed.
Laundry
Personal items of clothing are laundered and returned to your room from our own in-house laundry. It is important that all clothing is marked clearly with your name prior to admission. Clothing should be able to be machine washed and tumble dried.
Smoking
The Care Home accepts without reservation the overwhelming evidence that smoking is a major cause of preventable illness and death, and that the adverse effects of smoking fall not only those who themselves smoke but also on non-smokers who are exposed in their working and domestic environments to the smoke of others. Therefore the Fleet Valley Care Home is a completely non-smoking environment.
